| Malcolm Garrett was director of the design consultancy Assorted Images (London) and consultant designer at Protocol Creative Consultants (Manchester) until 1994, his work involved graphic identity, exhibition design, television graphics, ad design for literature of all kinds, as well as for artists such as Duran Duran, Boy George, Simple Minds and more recently Peter Gabriel. His work in TV includes designs for the first three series of The Last Resort and the identity and weekly on-screen graphics for the influential Network 7. He is an acknowledged enthusiast of the use of computers in design having worked with Apple, Scitex and Macintosh since the early 80s; he has authored a number of controversial articles in the trade press welcoming new developments in digital publishing. Garrett is now partner with Alisdair Scott in the newly formed interactive media production company AMX digital (London) so far commisioned to develop CD-based multimedia titles for EMI Records, News International and Kodak Image Bank. He designed the recently published Phaidon book, The Cyberspace Lexicon. | |
