Fons Hickmann is a designer, author and professor of graphic design at the Arts Academy. In 2001, he founded the design bureau “Fons Hickman m23” and began developing projects, exhibitions and publications around the world. He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale, the TDC NY and the advisory council for interdisciplinary projects at Bremerhaven’s Designlabor. His books include “Touch Me There” and “Beyond Graphic Design”. His publisher has said, “Fons Hickmann thinks in concepts instead of styles. He is provocative and forges new paths. He continues to ask questions when others would be content. Not only does he show his work, which has won many international awards, he also opens our eyes and stimulates us to design in ways off the beaten path”.

Fons Hickmann ist Designer, Autor und Professor für Grafik Design an der Universität der Künste. Er gründete 2001 das Büro »Fons Hickmann m23« und entwickelt Projekte, Ausstellungen, Publikationen rund um die Welt. Er ist Mitglied der Alliance Graphique Internationale, des TDC NY und Beirat für interdisziplinäre Projekte am Designlabor Bremerhaven. Erik Kessels was born 1966 in Roermond, Netherlands and is the Creative Director and co-founder of the Amsterdam advertising agency KesselsKramer, where he is in charge of such international accounts as Diesel, Oxfam or Ben. Following the principle that any medium, as long as it is relevant to an idea, is a potential for communication for a brand and its products or services, KesselsKramer’s portfolio ranges from ‘classical’ advertising to publishing and documentary film. In 2007 KesselsKramer established a branch in London, the KK Outlet. Just like the parent agency, the London office is not just an advertising agency, but also houses a gallery. For apart from his agency work, Erik Kessels is also an avid collector of photography who has published a number of volumes with photographs from his collection, among them the photo series »Instant Men Wonder« and »2 Kilo of KesselsKramer«. Since 2000 he has also been publishing the alternative photo magazine »Useful Photography« and acts as curator for numerous exhibitions. Erik Kessels has three children and lives in Amsterdam.

Hartmut Bohnacker was born in 1972 in the state of Baden Württemberg. He abandoned his math studies to pursue a business degree. After completing that, he studied communications design at the Design College in Schwäbisch Gmünd. He has been working as a freelance designer in Stuttgart since 2002. The focus of his activities is concept, design and prototype implementation for interface and interactive development projects. He has been teaching digital media since the end of 2002 and since 2009, has been a professor of interactive design at the Schwäbisch Gmünd design college. In 2009, his book “Generative Gestaltung” (Generative Design, written with Benedikt Gross, Julia Laub and Claudius Lazzeroni) was published by Hermann Schmidt, Mainz.

Hartmut Bohnacker, geboren 1972 in Baden-Württemberg. Nach abgebrochenem Mathematik- und abgeschlossenen BWL-Studium, Kommunikationsdesign-Studium an der HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. Seit 2002 selbstständiger Gestalter in Stuttgart. Hauptbetätigungsfeld Konzeption, Gestaltung und prototypische Umsetzung von Projekten im Bereich Interface- und Interaktionsentwicklung. Seit Ende 2002 Lehre im Bereich der digitalen Medien, und seit 2009 Professor für Interaktionsgestaltung an der HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. 2009 Veröffentlichung des Buches „Generative Gestaltung“ im Verlag Hermann Schmidt Mainz (mit Benedikt Groß, Julia Laub und Claudius Lazzeroni).

Julia Laub was born in 1980 in Bavaria. She studied multimedia production at the SAE Institute in Stuttgart before going on to study communications design at Schwäbisch Gmünd design college. She did an internship at Fuenfwerken in Wiesbaden and studied abroad at Basel’s design college. In 2007, she got her diploma in “generative systems” with Benedikt Gross and began working as a freelance graphic designer in Berlin, with a focus on book, corporate and generative design. In 2009, Hermann Schmidt publishers in Mainz published her book “Generative Design” (written with Benedikt Gross, Hartmut Bohnacker and Claudius Lazzeroni). In 2010, she founded the “onformative” agency for generative design with Cedric Kiefer.

Julia Laub, geboren 1980 in Bayern. Nach einem Multimedia Producing Studium an der SAE Stuttgart, Studium der Kommunikationsgestaltung an der HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. Praktikum bei Fuenfwerken in Wiesbaden, Auslandsstudium an der HGK Basel. 2007 Diplom »Generative Systeme« mit Benedikt Groß. Danach selbständige Grafikerin in Berlin mit den Schwerpunkten Buchgestaltung, Corporate Design, generative Gestaltung. 2009 Veröffentlichung des Buches „Generative Gestaltung“ im Verlag Hermann Schmidt Mainz (mit Benedikt Groß, Hartmut Bohnacker und Claudius Lazzeroni). 2010 Gründung der Agentur für generative Gestaltung »onformative« mit Cedric Kiefer.

Carlos Segura, came to the United States from Cuba at the age of nine. He worked for many prestigious ad agencies, including BBDO, Young & Rubicam, and DDB Needham. In 1991 he founded Segura Inc., Chicago, to pursue design more creatively with the goal of blending as much “fine art” into “commercial art” as he could. In 1994, the T26 Digital Type Foundry was born to explore the typographical side of the business. In 2001, Segura again ventured into new territory by starting 5inch, and in 2004, launched CarType with further expansions of the typographical segment with BikeType, MotoType and TruckType. Segura Inc. and T26 have received numerous awards, including from the Tokyo Type Directors Club, The Society of Typographic Arts, the New York Art Directors Club, the New York Type Directors Club, and the American Center for Design. In 2004, Carlos Segura was named one of the 21st Century’s 100 best designers and was honoured with Europe’s Red Dot Award. His work has appeared in many journals and publications, and in exhibits from the Denver Art Museum to Tokyo Japan.

Oliver Reichenstein got his first computer in 1981 and made his initial attempts at programming. He later studied philosophy in Basel and Paris, with a sideline teaching rhetoric and informatics. In 1999/2000, he was the information architect at R.Ø.S.A. AG, followed by a stint until 2004 as interactive brand consultant for Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux. In 2004/2005, he was brand manager for G Plus Media KK and, since 2005, he has been the CEO of Information Architects Inc.

Jonathan Barnbrook, and his London based studio are one of the most well know British graphic designers working today. His studio works across a broad range of disciplines including print design, industrial design, typeface design and motion graphics. He has collaborated with David Bowie on his album covers and Damien Hirst on his innovative books. In typeface design he released the groundbreaking fonts ‘Exocet’ and ‘Manson’, He is also actively engaged in social design collaborating with NGO’s and the Canadian anti-advertising organisation Adbusters.

Jonathan Barnbrook, ist einer der bekanntesten britischen Grafiker unserer Zeit. Sein Londoner Studio realisiert Print, Industriedesign, Schriften und Motion Graphics. Céphas Bansah, was crowned in April 1992 as King of Hohoe and is ruler of 300,000 people in the African Volta Region. He grew up in Ghana and visited Germany in 1970 during a student exchange program. His grandfather was King of Gbi Hohoe traditional area. After the death of his grandfather the elders and the kingmakers chose him as Ngoryifia which means King. Throughout the years he has been able to realize several supportive ventures. In Ludwigshafen, he was able through his good relations with the farmers to collect a container full of water pumps and pipes. They were shipped to Ghana and served to supply many people’s homes with clean drinking water. Céphas Bansah is also known as an entertainer and musician.

Céphas Bansah, König von Hohoe Gbi Traditional Ghana. Das Reich König Bansahs ist der Bezirk Gbi, in der Region des Voltasees, im Osten von Ghana, an der Grenze zu Togo. Rund 300.000 Menschen vom Stamm der Ewe in Ghana zählen zu seinen Untertanen. Er steht somit an der Spitze von zwölf Häuptlingen der Volta Region in Ghana. In Togo leben weitere 2 Millionen Menschen, für die er sich als »Superior and Spiritual Chief of Ewe People« verantwortlich fühlt. Doch noch heute lebt und arbeitet Bansah als Kfz-Meister und Landmaschinenmeister in Deutschland, da er sein Volk überzeugen konnte, seine Aufgaben von Deutschland aus besser ausüben zu können. Julian Zimmermann, born in 1983, lives, works and studies in Mannheim. His design profile for King Bansah was developed as part of his work on a bachelor’s of communication design at Mannheim College. Zimmermann concentrates on typography, and corporate and editorial design. Among other accolades, he has received the iF, reddot and European Design Award.
