A product of its time? Typographic distortion in international style typography (E)

When one thinks of International Style Typography, words like functional, structural and timeless quickly come to mind. Surprisingly, a sizeable body of typography was produced in the International Style (circa 1959-1972) that is in many ways comparable to flamboyant designs produced contemporarily in San Francisco, New York or London. Most surprisingly, in many instances these anomalous designs were created by central figures in International Style Typography.
