Oliver Reichenstein was born in 1971 in Basle. He studied Philosophy, History and German Language & Literature in Basle and Paris. From 2000-2003 he was interface designer at Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux. Reichenstein has worked in Japan since 2003, and it is there that he founded Information Architects Tokyo in 2005. He worked on the redesign of the Tagesanzeiger (2008), Krone.at (2009) and Zeit Online (2010) and writes for iPad (2010) and OSX (2011).

We are the medium. Designing the new power of information and its form (E)

In »The medium is the message«, Marshall McLuhan countered established information theories by stating that the channels in which we communicate not only determine news formally, but also in terms of content. In the meantime, we humans ourselves have become a channel: information moves through us; we decide what we pass on. This leads to new forms of language, knowledge, power and thought, to new values and currencies and to enormous resistance.
