We are constantly told that to succeed, we must bring passion to the table. It’s no longer enough, they say, to be good, nor to be simply conscientious. No. What is required is total commitment, absolute devotion. In short, passion. You must be one with your work; you must dream it, stand up for it, live for it! That is the way, and the only way, we’re told, to someday achieve success, fame and fortune. But perhaps it’s actually more likely to lead to a heart attack.
