Alessio
Leonardi
Alessio Leonardi was born in 1965 in Florence, Italy. He has been living and working as a designer and font designer in Berlin since 1990. In 2005, he founded Lion&Bee together with Imme Leonardi. It is a design studio with few staff, but lots of room for ideas and for their three daughters to play in. Since 2001, he has been the Italian delegate for ATypI. His fonts are sold through FontShop, Linotype and, since 2002, through his own label BuyMyFonts.com. He likes to speak at design and typography conferences, writes articles and books and lectures at universities.

We are constantly told that to succeed, we must bring passion to the table. It’s no longer enough, they say, to be good, nor to be simply conscientious. No. What is required is total commitment, absolute devotion. In short, passion. You must be one with your work; you must dream it, stand up for it, live for it! That is the way, and the only way, we’re told, to someday achieve success, fame and fortune. But perhaps it’s actually more likely to lead to a heart attack. Over time, Alessio Leonardi has developed a clear opinion on this issue and he will present it passionately at TYPO.
