FontStruct brings type design to the masses. Font design and development is a tedious, esoteric craft, inaccessible to most people, even those with a great idea for a typeface. Together with FontShop, Rob Meek created a web application that simplifies the type design process by giving the user a grid and a set of geometric shapes called »bricks«. Within minutes, someone without formal training can build and generate a working, modular TrueType font, all without leaving their web browser. In this session Rob Meek and Stephen Coles of FontShop San Francisco will demonstrate the editing tool and social features that have made FontStruct.com a popular destination in its first month on the Web.
